Insight possesses the equipment necessary to successfully locate utilities on any site.  We utilize the Metrotech models 9890XT and 530 as locators of choice when designating underground utilities.  We have a fleet of six vacuum excavation trucks to service your test hole needs.  The following highlights our services:

Utility Designation
Insight provides the horizontal locations of existing underground utilities and structures.  This service is usually performed during the initial design and civil engineering phase of a project.  We will mark locatable utilities utilizing established utility designating color codes and ASCE Standards of Practice.  The following tasks can be performed:

• Mark locatable utilities by utilizing proper surface geophysical techniques such as radio-frequency electromagnetic or magnetic
• Indentify and contact appropriate utility owners to obtain available record drawings
• Mark identifiable but un-locatable utilities by record drawings and surface features
• Prepare field sketch showing the approximate location of all marked utilities

Utility Locating and Vacuum Excavation
Working at a construction site, it is critical that buried utilities be properly located and identified to avoid damage to property and eliminate risk of injury to workers performing excavations.  During the final design and construction phase of a project, Insight utilizes non-destructive vacuum excavation to determine the exact horizontal and vertical location of the underground utility.  This process helps identify any potential design conflicts and prevent costly change orders or construction delays.  We provide our clients with a test hole inventory report of the located underground utilities.

Insight can perform the following tasks:

• Utilize non-destructive air-vacuum excavation to expose underground utilities
• Measure depth from grade to top and bottom of duct structures, pipe and conduits
• Determine the utilities material and condition
• Place a permanent marker over the utility
• Record the location of the hole with three swing measurements
• Complete a test hole report documenting the information above
• Restore excavated areas as near as possible to its original condition
